MEE HOSTS STUDENT CAMP

MEE hosted the students from the Minnesota ASM Materials Camp for a day of fun and science in the laboratory. Sixteen high-achieving high school students were invited to a week-long summer camp in June to introduce them to engineering and material science. The students worked in small teams to conduct real-life engineering projects. Larry Hanke and Kurt Schenk of MEE were two of the principal organizers and mentors for the camp. The students and mentors were hosted at the MEE laboratory for one day of hands-on laboratory experience, including preparation and examination of specimens for microstructure analysis and examination of their samples using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
