{"id":516,"date":"2016-09-30T18:06:40","date_gmt":"2016-09-30T18:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mee-inc.com\/blog\/?p=516"},"modified":"2016-09-30T18:06:40","modified_gmt":"2016-09-30T18:06:40","slug":"improving-the-laboratory-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mee-inc.com\/blog\/?p=516","title":{"rendered":"Improving the Laboratory Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This summer, MEE completed a retrofit \u00a0of our office and laboratory space to\u00a0LED lighting. \u00a0We had been looking for ways to save energy in our facility so we had a lighting assessment done\u00a0and learned we qualified for the\u00a0Xcel energy rebate program for retrofits.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits of the project were noticed soon after the work\u00a0was completed.\u00a0\u00a0Our\u00a0energy bill for\u00a0the first\u00a0full month after the\u00a0retrofit showed\u00a0significant savings\u00a0and\u00a0staff and customers have commented on the improvement in the quality of the lighting, especially in our metallographic laboratory, project inspection bay and machine shop. We have since read a Cornell University study which showed a\u00a03-5%\u00a0increase in worker productivity could be obtained\u00a0by switching to LED bulbs.
