MEE staff attended the Minnesota Chapter of ASM seminar on Welding and Joining at Hennepin Technical College. One of the talks, Solid -State Welding of Stainless Steel to Nitinol, included SEM images of samples prepared with the broad-beam ion mill by MEE Laboratory Manager, Kurt Schenk.
SEM and metallographic imaging of welds provides valuable information for weld process control or determination of the failure mechanism in a failure analysis project.
